Can my employer fire me for performance?

Generally speaking, an employer may terminate an employee’s employment at any time for performance issues, though in most cases, the employee is entitled to receive advance notice of termination and/or an appropriate severance package commensurate with their legal entitlements.

If the employer asserts cause for dismissal due to performance and refuses to provide a severance package, employees should not necessarily accept this at face value and seek legal advice.
