Can my employer fire me without cause?
In general, yes, a provincially regulated employer can terminate a non-union employee’s employment without just cause for any legal reason.
If the employer is terminating without cause, it has to provide the employee with advance notice of the termination or payment in lieu of notice (which is commonly referred to as a “severance package”).
